As a small cabinet shop owner for 26 years, I was always looking for ways to increase production in the shop and simplify the learning process for new employees. Whether it was a clamp table, a special tool, or just a better process for each build step, I was constantly seeking improvements. Over the years, I hadn't found a good setup for coping rails for doors. After searching the internet, buying cheap coping sleds, and using a backing block to push one board at a time by hand, I knew there had to be a better way. While a solution existed in large production machines, the reality is that most small shops can't afford or accommodate such equipment.
Determined to find a solution, I set out on a mission to create a coping sled that was truly universal, easy to set up, and simple to operate. Our first attempt, a Frankenstein machine, was used in our shop for over three years, increasing our production by 4X. However, it wasn't yet refined enough to hit the market.
After many more months and countless prototypes, we finally achieved our goal with the ST-1530 Apprentice. Ready to work right out of the box, with very low maintenance, quick setup, all-aluminum construction, and adjustable rail plates to fit most machines, it's perfect for a shop with one machine handling both rails and stiles. The T-slot index pins make it easy to use; all you need is a shaper or router table. It is truly "The best way to cope your stick."
Thank you for your interest. I know the ST-1530 Apprentice will be one of the best tools in your shop, just as it has been in mine.
